No, I'm not going to tell you about some online job that will make you rich in no time. That's for some other day. Right now, what I want to talk to you about is how to properly work at home.
You see, lots and lots of people want to work at home but they don't know how to do it properly and therefore end up making much less than what they could have earned if they worked in a corporate environment. Working at home is fun but it does need some getting used to. You can easily get distracted by the "at home" feeling and you can quickly end up doing nothing instead of making money.
There are many work at home jobs that you can jump into but for the sake of focus, we'll talk about work at home online jobs.
First, let's find out what you'll need.
- A computer
- A decent internet connection
- Something for you to work on. That's what this article is all about, right?
That's pretty easy as most of us already have the first two and are just worrying about the 3rd one. The most common online work at home job is data encoding. For that matter, you may

With all those three covered, let's talk about your work environment.
- Eventhough you're working at home, you still have to make it a point that you allot a certain section of your house to be your workplace. It's best if you can put up your own mini-office in the house where you can be separated from the rest of the house during work-hours. If that's not possible, you can work in your bedroom - just make sure you don't work on your bed as you may be tempted to fall asleep.
- Define your working hours. One of the best parts about working at home is that you can choose whether you want to work or not. This freedom is both good and bad. Good because it releases you from the pressure of having to work at fixed schedules and bad because you can easily be tempted to be lazy. It is therefore best if you define what time will you be starting your work, what time will you take your break(s), and what time will you finish. You can choose to change your work schedule on a weekly basis to help you feel that you're in control.
- Define your goals. This is the hardest part of working at home but all it requires really is a little self-disciplines. You can have your own home-office and a define work schedule but if you don't set goals, you can easily end up doing everything else except your work. Define your goal for the day, for the week and if you can, for the month. This will help you monitor your own progress.
- Reward yourself. This is analogous to company bonuses. Each time you complete a major goal or reach a certain milestone in your work, make it a point that you reward yourself. Rewarding can be pretty much anything from as simple as buying ice cream for yourself or taking a day off and going to the beach with your family. This may sound like a waste of money and time but this is very important as it releases you from all work-related stress and makes you feel human again.
At the end of the day, it's still a matter of how happy you are in doing what you do.
