Why Some Fail

If working at home is such a good thing then how come that Mr. and Mrs. Jones quit? How come that Aunt Leila is not making as much as promised? How come Bill is still in debt? How come they all failed? These are the questions that the common work-at-home critic has in mind and I'm about to tell you the most probable answer and that is because they most probably didn't follow the system exactly as told.

Aside from working at home, I also am into the franchising business and in this business we are told over and over again to DO EXACTLY AS WE ARE TOLD. Failure to follow the instructions to the letter can result to customers not wanting to buy from you anymore.

The same can be said for any other money-making opportunity but the risk is greater for work-at-home opportunities mainly because of the fact that the boss is you and you tend to become sloppy as time goes by. You have to be disciplined and you have to be vigilant. You have to be the boss of yourself and you really have to boss yourself around.

Follow the steps exactly as you're told and trust me, any opportunity is going to be big time. After all, businesses are willing to pay you for what you have to say.

How to Properly Work at Home

No, I'm not going to tell you about some online job that will make you rich in no time. That's for some other day. Right now, what I want to talk to you about is how to properly work at home.

You see, lots and lots of people want to work at home but they don't know how to do it properly and therefore end up making much less than what they could have earned if they worked in a corporate environment. Working at home is fun but it does need some getting used to. You can easily get distracted by the "at home" feeling and you can quickly end up doing nothing instead of making money.

There are many work at home jobs that you can jump into but for the sake of focus, we'll talk about work at home online jobs.

First, let's find out what you'll need.
  1. A computer
  2. A decent internet connection
  3. Something for you to work on. That's what this article is all about, right?
That's pretty easy as most of us already have the first two and are just worrying about the 3rd one. The most common online work at home job is data encoding. For that matter, you may click here to get an online data encoding job ASAP.

With all those three covered, let's talk about your work environment.

  1. Eventhough you're working at home, you still have to make it a point that you allot a certain section of your house to be your workplace. It's best if you can put up your own mini-office in the house where you can be separated from the rest of the house during work-hours. If that's not possible, you can work in your bedroom - just make sure you don't work on your bed as you may be tempted to fall asleep.

  2. Define your working hours. One of the best parts about working at home is that you can choose whether you want to work or not. This freedom is both good and bad. Good because it releases you from the pressure of having to work at fixed schedules and bad because you can easily be tempted to be lazy. It is therefore best if you define what time will you be starting your work, what time will you take your break(s), and what time will you finish. You can choose to change your work schedule on a weekly basis to help you feel that you're in control.

  3. Define your goals. This is the hardest part of working at home but all it requires really is a little self-disciplines. You can have your own home-office and a define work schedule but if you don't set goals, you can easily end up doing everything else except your work. Define your goal for the day, for the week and if you can, for the month. This will help you monitor your own progress.

  4. Reward yourself. This is analogous to company bonuses. Each time you complete a major goal or reach a certain milestone in your work, make it a point that you reward yourself. Rewarding can be pretty much anything from as simple as buying ice cream for yourself or taking a day off and going to the beach with your family. This may sound like a waste of money and time but this is very important as it releases you from all work-related stress and makes you feel human again.
At the end of the day, it's still a matter of how happy you are in doing what you do.

Is working at home a bad idea?

Most of us have been trained to be a good worker in the offices where we work in. We've been brainwashed to think that if we work at hard in the office then we will be successful in our career. For some it's true but for most it's not mainly due to tough competition.

Because of this, the idea of working at home started to sound like a lucrative idea and people started jumping aboard. But is it a bad idea? Well, your boss will most probably tell you it is but I tell you otherwise because I myself have been working at home for the past 10 years and it's been really great. I did have a few short stints in an office environment during these years but most of them were spent working at home.

Here's why you should work at home:
  1. You control how much money you want to earn.
  2. You control how much time you want to spend working.
  3. You control much stuff you want to learn.
Working at home does require self-discipline as you can easily get distracted by lots of stuff that you see at home such as the television, the bed, the kids and other stuff but as soon as you learn how to teach yourself to do the things that you need to do, then you'll be pretty much free of trouble.

So, is working at home a bad idea? I don't think so. In fact, it's a very very good idea.
